Missing Bean

Subscribers this week are receiving coffee from Missing Bean, an Oxford-based roastery founded in 2009 by Ori Halup and Vicky Troth. Inspired by Australia's vibrant coffee culture during their studies in Sydney, Ori and Vicky brought home a vision of creating welcoming cafés serving exceptional coffee. Sixteen years later, Missing Bean has grown into an Oxford institution, beloved for its speciality beans, friendly atmosphere, and community-focused ethos.

Missing Bean’s journey began with its first café on Turl Street and has expanded into multiple cafés, a dedicated bakery, and a vibrant roasting facility. The roastery team - led by Ori, Vicky, and coffee sourcing expert Silviu - focuses on ethically sourcing high-quality beans through direct trade relationships, prioritising fairness and sustainability every step of the way.

Subscribers will experience the result of years of meticulous roasting, tasting, and refining. Each bean is carefully roasted by Head Roaster Emilie Lambert and her talented team, who work tirelessly to ensure every coffee showcases its unique flavour characteristics. With quality and sustainability at their heart, Missing Bean’s blends and single-origin offerings consistently delight both seasoned coffee drinkers and curious newcomers alike.

Above all, Missing Bean is defined by its people. From Ori and Vicky’s ongoing passion for the perfect cup to the dedication of Silviu, Emilie, and the rest of the talented team, subscribers are tasting the results of skill, care, and community spirit. It’s a coffee that tells a story with every sip.
