Neighbourhood Coffee Roasters

Neighbourhood coffee roasters, based in Liverpool, started roasting back in 2014 and helped to change the way the residents of Liverpool experienced coffee. Founders Chris Holloway and Ed Peck pick each variety of green bean themselves and travel widely in order to meet the farmers and select the best quality coffee.

As a result, they know the farmers by name, and only work with those who are committed to producing delicious coffee. As you'd expect, they pay way above the current fair trade prices and as a result, have a flourishing relationship with each farmer who is happy to provide the best coffee as a result.

But, beans are only one part of the speciality coffee equation, and NCR are obsessed with the craft of roasting. They roast in small batches to unlock the optimum flavour and true character of each coffee.

We're big fans of NCR here at the Secret Caffeine Club and we're very excited to be featuring the Brewed (Looks like a lady) roast:

  • Tastes like: dark chocolate, honeycomb, summer berry
  • Process: Fully washed
  • Varietal: Bourbon, Caturra, Catimor
  • Altitude: 1,000m - 1,100m
  • Farmer: Fernando Lima & family

The Lima’s have been farming coffee in El Salvador since the 1930’s, and this farm, Finca Serbia has been in their care and ownership since it was first planted.

The whole farm is planted with shade trees – oaks, cedars and balsams, which means the coffee gets an awesome growing environment, shielded from the UV rays of what can be intense summer sunshine. Whilst this farm is only 1,000m above sea level, we shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, and the quality of the picking and the processing means there is plenty going on in the cup.
